Facebook Lists




Facebook is an excellent way to stay connected with friends, family and clients, but as your Friend count grows, you may be facing a lot of information from a lot of different people. Drill down to what you need most by creating Facebook Lists.

Step 1: Create a new list.
After logging into Facebook, start by going to the profile page of someone you would like to add to a list. Click on the Friends button, then select "Add to list..."

Scroll down and select "+New List..."

Type the name of your list and press Enter to save.
*Note: According to Facebook, these lists are not public and notice will not be sent out that you added someone to a list. However, just in case this changes in the future, be mindful of what you're naming your lists!

Step 2: Mass edit your list.
You could go to each individual person and add them to your new list following the steps above (selecting the list name instead of creating a new list), however the easiest way to add additional people to your new list is by going to your Lists Homepage (https://www.facebook.com/bookmarks/lists)

Click on the name of the list you just created:
You can also create lists from this page.


Then click Manage List > Edit List in the upper right hand corner:


Then click On List List > Friends to see your whole friends list:


Simply click on the friends you would like to add to this particular list. A check (like Albert Bui) means they're on the list; no check (like Allison Brekke) means they are not on the list. Click finish when you are done.


You can edit your list as often as you like.

Step 3: View your list in the Newsfeed.
To make your list easily accessible, locate it in the left sidebar under Friends - you may have to scroll down a bit. Click on the Edit Pencil and select "Add to Favorites":



You will now see the list under Favorites in the left sidebar. Simply click on it to see updates only from the people you've added to your list:

Refresh is an application that allows you to see how much in common you have with someone via your social media profiles. Depending on the person's privacy settings, you can see a whole list of information such as: interactions between the pair of you, mutual friends, what their interests are, every social media profile they have, the list goes on and on! The more social media profiles you have connected with the person the more you will be able to refresh with them.

Using Refresh can be incredibly helpful when:
  • Connecting with a past client
  • Meeting with an old friend
  • Working with a new title rep or lender

Tech Tip: Remember Everything with EVERNOTE

Evernote, your new digital assistant.






Evernote is an app that helps you remember everything by allowing you to take notes, capture photos, create to-do lists, save voice reminders, and then efficiently organize them into separate searchable notebooks. It has it's own desktop version that syncs with your mobile device and even has it's own Google Extension.

When creating a note in Evernote you'll be asked if you would like to type the note, take a snapshot, record the note with audio, or upload a file. Once you have created the note, you can then file it into one of your Notebooks so that it is perfectly organized into the app. Besides notebooks, you can also look for and organize notes with tags, searchable words that help describe the note, or via places meaning the location you were in when you created the note.





There is also a Premium upgrade with Evernote that activates smarter searching in documents, access to your notes even while offline, better presentation mode, and more storage space for your notes. It is $5 per month, or $45 per year for the upgrade.























The desktop version features the same functions as the application does with the comfort of using your computer and a larger screen.

Guide to CENTURY 21 Logos & Usage

Did you know that there are specific guidelines for using the CENTURY 21 Real Estate and CENTURY 21 Award logos?

Read on for our top tips on correct usage requirements!
1. Make sure you're using the correct logo!
We've gone through several logo variations over the past five years. Always make sure to download the most up-to-date logos from 21Online > Brand Studio > Brand Center. Click here for more information.



2. Discontinue old logo use.
The below logos (and any similar variations) are no longer suitable for use and should be replaced with the correct logo as soon as possible. Note the incorrect color schemes and font for "Award."


3. Include required disclaimer verbiage:
Each office independently owned and operated
The required disclaimer, “Each office is independently owned and operated”, must appear on all marketing materials, including but not limited to stationery, signage, flyers, brochures, business cards, multimedia, films, promotional items, advertising materials, website and internet communications, and all other documents or information in any medium relating to real estate transactions. 

4. Mandatory Disclaimers for Independent Websites
If you have your own website outside of the Award Agent Site or the My C21 Site, the following must be included on each page of your website (typically in the website footer):
  • “Each office is independently owned and operated”
  • “©2014 Century 21 Real Estate LLC. CENTURY 21® is a registered trademark owned by Century 21 Real Estate LLC. Equal Housing Opportunity.”

5. Use the Brand Center Guidelines.
See all logo guidelines by logging in to 21Online and navigating to Brand Studio > Guidelines > CENTURY 21 > Elements > Logo.

Weekly Tech Tip: Set up Google Alerts

Check out this great tip from the CENTURY 21 sponsored Xplode Conference. It will take you less than 3 minutes and will provide tons of value.

To quote Jim Marks, "If you don't do this today, you're crazy!"




1. Go to http://www.google.com/alerts


2. Fill out the form, making sure to put your query in quotes.

You can sign up for as many alerts as you like, and you absolutely should sign up for the following:
  • "[Your Name]" and any variations.
    For example, I would use "Natassia Bezdeka" and "Tassia Bezdeka"
  • "Century 21 Award"
  • "[Your City] Real Estate"
    For example, "La Jolla Real Estate" or "Irvine Real Estate"
  • "[Specific community or neighborhood you service]"
    For example, "Dove Canyon" or "Hidden Meadows"
Other good ideas:
  • Your phone number, email address, address, etc. (Same for your kids or spouse)
  • Contact information for your business
  • Any key words or topics you would like to keep tabs on
  • Addresses of properties you've listed

3. Receive emails with search results matching your queries.


Why do this?

  • Know when something new is posted about you online
  • Know what's happening at CENTURY 21 Award
  • Know when pertinent real estate information is posted for the area(s) you service
  • Know what's happening in general in the specific areas or neighborhoods you service
  • Use this information on your social media sites, newsletters and in face-to-face conversations
  • Be more knowledgable, inspire more trust, do more business!

4. Download the app to your device.

Launch the app and sign in to your account.


Helpful Tips:

  • Take video of yourself using your device's camera or create voice-over narration only.
  • Horizontal photos and videos work best.
  • Licensed theme music is available from the Theme Music Library (this is recommended so that you do not violate copyright).

Weekly Tech Tip: Adjust Your View

Chances are, you spend a good chunk of your time at a computer. To avoid back, neck and shoulder pain as well as eyestrain and other overuse injuries, take some time to make sure your desk is as ergonomic as possible. Your body will thank you!


Tips & Tricks:

  • The top of your monitor(s) should be at or just below eye level. Invest in a riser to put yours at the proper height. If you are using a laptop, you will also need to invest in a keyboard/mouse set as your keyboard will also be raised. Money-saving tip: A cabinet shelf makes a great, cheap alternative.
  • Make sure you're sitting pretty. Your chair should be comfortable, include lower back support and have arms to support your elbows and forearms.
  • Your forearms should be parallel to the floor, so make sure your chair is at the proper height.
  • Your feet should rest flat on the floor. If you are short like I am, a foot rest can make sitting much more comfortable.
It's also important to take breaks!
  • Close your eyes or focus on something 20+ feet away periodically to avoid eyestrain.
  • Stand up and stretch/take short breaks at least once an hour.

Weekly Tech Tip: If This Then That



IFTTT (IF This Then That) is a service that allows you to connect certain web applications together to automate the web and eliminate busy work for you. For instance: IF you are tagged in a photo on Facebook THEN have that photo saved to your Google Drive.This is just one of many possible connections that you can create. One helpful connection or recipe, as they're called on IFTTT, is being sent an email when a new Craigslist ad is posted that fits a specific search critera. This is useful as a real estate agent because it will help you be notified of fraudulent postings, for example: a scammer posting your listing as a rental.


Step 1:

Create your account on IFTTT.


Step 2:

Once you have signed up, you will be directed to the main menu or Dashboard. At the top of your tool bar select "Create".


Step 3:

Select "this" for a list of applications or Channels to drop down. Then select the Craigslist icon:




Step 4:

Click on the "New post search" box and a space to enter the URL of the search results on Craigslist will drop down (see next step).

Step 5:

To get the URL, search for your listing's in Craigslist, IE: 123 Main. For best results, do not use terms like Street or Avenue as they can be abbreviated and may not show up in your search. Once the search results appear, highlight and copy the URL of the results page.

Step 6: 

Paste the URL into the search results bar and then select "Create Trigger"


Step 7:

Select "that" for another list of Channels to drop down. Then select the email icon.


Step 8:

Click on the "Send me an email" box and a draft of future email notifications will appear. You can change up the Subject to show the property title if you wish. Once you are done customizing the email notification select "Create Action".

Step 9:

Select "Create Recipe" for final completion of your recipe.

Step 10:

You'll then be brought back to the dashboard where you'll select "My Recipe" at the top of the tool bar.


VoilĂ ! You have just created your own recipe on IFTTT.


When an ad is posted that matches your search criteria, you will receive a notification email:



IFTTT has many recipes pre-created to help you automate your digital life. Click on Browse to see what's already available, as well as for inspiration on other ways to use IFTTT/
